WordPress Frontend Web Developer
About Us
Camna, LLC is a web development firm based out of Virginia. Our small team of experienced developers all work from home throughout the United States (and Scotland!). Our skills include both front-end and back-end development, and our projects range from building and/or supporting WordPress websites to full-scale app development. Similarly, our clients range from solopreneurs and small businesses to international companies with thousands of employees.
Job Description
We are currently looking to add a talented frontend WordPress developer our team. We need an individual who is self-motivated and disciplined and who thrives in a work-from-home environment, while also staying connected to and collaborating with an online team.
The ideal candidate is highly skilled in building performance-oriented, pixel perfect custom WordPress themes based on design mockups, as well as providing support for existing clients. We provide maintenance and support for client websites built by our team as well as those built by others, and they range greatly in both size and architecture (from pre-built themes and/or page builders such as Divi/Elementor/Beaver Builder to sites that are fully custom, relying on hand-written themes and plugins).
Experience with custom theme development is paramount (custom plugin development is a big bonus!), and we are looking for someone highly detail-oriented with excellent critical thinking skills – someone who is always in pursuit of the purest and deftest solution. Your front-end development skills should be honed to allow you to see visual mockups from a designer and successfully strategize and execute an efficient and user-friendly content structure within WordPress alongside front-end code (HTML/SCSS/jQuery) that is:
- Handwritten/lightweight (we typically avoid bloated frameworks)
- Standards-compliant (your code should always validate)
- Accessible (we use the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool by WebAIM)
- Mobile-first, responsive, and cross-device/cross-browser compatible
- Semantic (highly readable)
- Performance-oriented (think DRY and KISS)
Of equal importance, our team puts a very strong emphasis on stellar client relations, including fast response times and clear, concise written and verbal communication. We strive to put our clients first and go the extra mile, and we are looking for candidates who will do the same.
Job Responsibilities
- Build and support WordPress websites, using both custom and pre-built themes
- Handle incoming client support requests by email, chat, and (less often) phone
- Assist back-end developers with components of larger and/or non-WordPress projects
Required Skills
To be considered for this position, you must be able to demonstrate the following skillset (with examples):
- Custom WordPress theme development (without the use of starter themes, page builders, or frameworks)

- Ability to leverage jQuery for UI/UX purposes with minimal reliance on pre-built scripts
- Experience leveraging, adapting, and supporting pre-built WordPress themes and plugins
- In-depth experience using Advanced Custom Fields
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and techniques
